Perimenopause
Women start perimenopause at different ages but average 45 -55 years.
Some of the symptoms can include:
- Pain during sex
- Low sex drive
- Changes in appetite / cravings and associated weight gain
- Mood changes
- Hot flashes
- Night sweats
You may notice some early signs of menopausal development, such as menstrual irregularity, during your 40s but some women notice changes as early as their mid-30s.
Perimenopause begins well before you officially hit menopause. In fact, women sometimes enter this stage anywhere from 8 to 10 years ahead of menopause. Perimenopause is marked by a drop in estrogen, which is the main female hormone produced by the ovaries. The degree to which you struggle with perimenopause symptoms has a lot to do with several factors that make your body unique, including your personal medical history, genetics, the quality of your diet, how active you are and your stress levels.
You cannot change their medical history or their genetics. At The Balanced Woman, we look at the other contributing factors that include diet and other lifestyle habits which can have a positive or negative impact on your body. Exercise is another way to have a positive impact on how your body responds to hormonal change. It is an important part of any healthy lifestyle. Whether you prefer low impact exercise such as walking, or high impact exercises such as aerobic classes, we will help you discover what best suits you. Stress management is critical to relieving the dramatic effects of perimenopause. The aim of the Balanced Woman is to introduce you to a unique tailored lifestyle program that works best for you.
